The world of IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is very much a part of my night time amusement. I have alot of close friends that i have met from IRC.

I am usually residing in 2 channels on the Austnet Server. These are #Adelaide and #AdelaideSA.

IRC is a Chat Program where you can meet and interact interesting people from all over the world, or even in your own city in "real time".

Where to get IRC

To download mIRC (An IRC Client), visit the mIRC homepage which can be found at http://www.mirc.com/get.html and go to the download link..

What to do next

Once you have downloaded the mIRC installation program, you will need to locate when you chose to save this file (you would have chosen a folder to save into), then run the install program. Once installed, run mIRC, then go to FILE, then SETUP. Fill in your personal details, choose a nickname etc. Once this is done, use the pull down menus in the setup window to find the "Austnet Server". There will be a few to chose from. Any one will be fine to use. Once connected type the following in the status window...

/join #Adelaide                   This will take you to the #Adelaide Channel  or        /join #AdelaideSA               This will take you to the #AdelaideSA Channel

It is possible to be in more than 1 channel at the same time.

*NOTE*  the hash symbol (#) in IRC means Channel...so #Adelaide is Channel Adelaide.

Once your in the channel...your set. The people in this channel mostly live in my home State (Adelaide, South Australia) and if I'm online, i will be under the nickname of  ^Utopia^.

If you have any problems with installing or setting up IRC, visit the mIRC homepage for help which is located at http://www.mirc.co.uk

Happy Chatting........
